ABOUT VICHY

Vichy is a town of 30,000 inhabitants in the Sub-Prefecture of Allier, the Ville de Vichy situated right in the centre of France, to the North of the Auvergne Region. It is located on the banks of the river Allier, close to the Parc Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne (National Park), 55km (34 miles) from the regional capital, Clermont-Ferrand. Close to the Airports of Clermont-Ferrand and St Etienne, it is an easily accessible location.

Surrounded by parks and gardens, it is a beautiful and modern, typically French town, with an international reputation for its famous spa.

Vichy has promoted French language tourism with the opening of the the Vichy Centre for Modern Languages where thousands of foreign language students come to learn French.

Vichy is an ideal place to study the French language, French culture and to meet French people in a non cosmopolitan setting.

During the last ten years the town has launched a scheme to make Vichy a major European centre for beauty, health, fitness and leisure, through promoting spa treatment / health farm sectors, business tourism, and hotels. There has also been a great deal of redevelopment of the town centre
